Hello Everyone!

 

Last night we learned that an employee working at Plant 1, located at 1400 Shoals Way in Portland, TN tested positive for COVID-19.  We also learned last night that an employee working at our Muscle Shoals, AL Plant tested positive.  As a result, we implemented the Shoals Pandemic Preparedness Plan and shut down both plants.  ServePro has completed a Level 3 sanitization of the facility in Alabama and will be finished at Plant 1 shortly. 

 

Please understand that we have an obligation to keep confidential the name of the person who tested positive.  However, we are in the process of determining if anyone has been in “close contact” with the team member.  The CDC and the TN Health Department define “close contact” as being within a six-foot distance of a person for a minimum of a full 10-minute period.  The 10-minute period starts over each time the same persons enters within a six-foot distance of you.  Anyone whom is determined to meet the definition of “close contact” with a team member who has tested positive for COVID-19 will be quarantined for a minimum of 14 days.  If symptoms develop during that 14-day period, the quarantine period will be extended. 

 

Both the affected plants will reopen tomorrow, Thursday, April 30th, and unless otherwise notified by HR or a member of management, all teammates should return to work at your normally scheduled time.

 

As we move forward, in order to keep everyone as safe as possible, we need your help and will require your help in the following ways:

 

  1. Do NOT come to work and call HR if you are experiencing either of the following symptoms:

    1. Cough

    2. Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

AND/OR at least two of these symptoms:

  1. Fever / Chills / Repeated Shaking with Chills / Muscle Pain / Headache / Sore Throat / New Loss of Taste or Smell

  1. Do NOT come to work and call HR if you have traveled by plane in the last 14 days OR if you live with OR have been in “close contact” with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

  2. Call a member of the HR team immediately to call out and be assessed.  We will also help you with free resources for testing sites.

  3. If you are required to quarantine it is because you may have been exposed, so follow the quarantine guidelines we give you.  You may NOT return to any Shoals site without permission from HR to do so.

  4. If you are asked to communicate with us about your status, you must do so immediately.

  5. Frequently wash your hands for 20 seconds or longer, use hand sanitizer when water is not available, cover all coughs and sneezes, do not touch your face, maintain a 6ft distance from others, and be alert to all surroundings. 

  6. We know that each of you cares about and takes pride in your work.  You will not receive attendance points or disciplinary action for a COVID-19 related illness.  However, failure to follow the requirements above may result in disciplinary action, so please be honest with us.

 

As a reminder, all Shoals employees will receive pay for 8 hours per day (M-F), up to 40 hours per week according to the COVID-19 compensation plan. If you are a temporary worker and have been working at least 30 days onsite at Shoals, you will be paid by your agency for 6 hours a day (M-F), up to 30 hours per week, and the cost will be covered by Shoals according to the COVID-19 compensation plan.
