Chichester Solar and Gas Hybrid Project

Project Background

The Chichester Solar Gas Hybrid Project in Western Australia’s Pilbara region provides low-emission renewable energy for Fortescue Metals Group’s iron ore operations. It is a gas-fired and solar-generated hybrid power solution. The 60MW solar PV facility is supported by APA’s existing 35MW battery storage system and Newman gas-fired power station. This ground-breaking project also includes a ~60 km transmission line connecting the Christmas Creek and Cloudbreak mining sites, delivering a sustainable energy solution for off-grid operations.
